    When we found out that most skincare is 70-95% water, loaded with synthetic preservatives (since water breeds bacteria), and stored in single-use packaging, we were initially shocked. After realizing that the solution to cleaner, more sustainable, and all-around better skincare lies in waterless products, we decided to do something about it.

THE PAST
When I was younger, I used to love making homemade face masks with my mom in our North Carolina kitchen. My grandmother passed recipes of sandalwood powder, Multani Mitti (also known as Fuller’s Earth clay powder), and ‘besan’ (or chickpea flour) down to my mom, and I was thrilled to test out the cooling concoctions on Saturday afternoons. As I grew up and moved to Manhattan, I forgot about the skincare recipes I made in my kitchen – I just wanted easy skincare that both worked well and was experientially fun. 

THE PRESENT
Then, when I worked in the beauty industry, I discovered how most of my skincare products were 70-95% water (the same water we have on tap at home). It wasn’t until early 2021 when I realized that my grandmother was onto something – she was one of the early adopters of waterless skincare. 

THE FUTURE (of skincare)
I couldn’t contain my excitement for the field and I knew I needed to bring waterless skincare to the world. After finding a cosmetic chemist (and running through many formula iterations,) we're thrilled to unveil the Hydrating Seafoam Cleanser to you. The soft-pressed, uncoated cleanser beads break apart between your fingers, and a few drops of water transform the cleanser concentrate into a luxurious lather. Given the waterless formulation, we were able to eliminate artificial preservatives (and single use plastics) across our supply chain. Since we wanted to ensure proper dosing of the cleanser beads, we intentionally formulated in tablet form (rather than loose powder form). Clinically tested, dermatologist approved, and allergen-free, our patent-pending, vegan, cruelty-free Hydrating Seafoam Cleanser bead is the first ripple in the new wave of waterless skincare.
